Bluff Community Planting Festival - June 2026
15th January 2026
By Biodiversity Victor Harbor
Biodiversity Victor Harbor (Bio-VH), together with City of Victor Harbor Mayor Moira Jenkins, has officially launched the 2026 Bluff Community Planting Festival — building on the success of last year’s much-loved community planting event at The Bluff.
“The 2025 event was sensational,” said Mark Richards, Chairperson of Biodiversity Victor Harbor. “We’re delighted to have again been awarded the Bupa Landcare Australia Healthy Cities Grant, for the second year running. This support allows us to plan another large-scale community planting event in late June 2026.”
Mayor Moira Jenkins said the City of Victor Harbor is proud to partner with Biodiversity Victor Harbor on a project that celebrates both the environmental and cultural significance of The Bluff. “The Bluff is a place of profound importance to traditional owners and holds a special place in the hearts of our community,” Mayor Jenkins said. “Supporting projects like this strengthens local biodiversity, encourages community participation, and reinforces our commitment to caring for country in a way that respects its past and protects its future.”
The Community Planting Festival is a standout volunteer-driven initiative. Around 2,500 native seedlings will be planted, all propagated and nurtured over seven months at Bio-VH’s pop-up nursery using seeds and cuttings collected locally. “There is already strong enthusiasm for the 2026 festival,” Mr Richards said. “We’re again working in partnership with local environmental organisations, Rotary Victor Harbor, and other community groups.”
Reflecting on last year’s event, Mr Richards added, “We had families with young children, groups of friends, and individuals — some travelling from as far away as Ardrossan — all turning up, getting their hands dirty, and having a great time. That sense of shared purpose and enjoyment is what makes this event so special.”
The 2026 Bluff Community Planting Festival will be held between 9.30am - 12.30pm on Saturday 27 June 2026 and will once again be open to anyone in the community who would like to take part.
