Hi [FIRST_NAME],

CLLMM1.JPG

We’ve been asked by our member, Dr Nick Whiterod (Science Program Manager at the Coorong, Lower Lakes and Murray Mouth [CLLMM] Research Centre), to help the Centre look ahead over the next 15 years and identify key questions, challenges, and opportunities for the region.

How can you help?

By completing a short survey—it only takes a few minutes.
👉 Take the survey here

Hey, why not share with family & friends?

What are they looking for?

Your insight. Your thoughts.
Specifically: the 2 to 5 emerging topics you believe are most likely to influence the Coorong, Lower Lakes, and Murray Mouth in the future.

What happens with the information?

Your (anonymous) responses will be combined with others and analysed by Dr Bri Le Busque (UniSA) and Professor Melissa Nursery-Bray (University of Adelaide) using a technique called horizon scanning.

This process helps identify and prioritise both existing and emerging challenges and opportunities—especially those that might otherwise go under the radar.

What’s in it for you?

  • A chance to have your say and help shape future research and activities in the region.
  • Entry into the draw for a $150 gift card when you complete the survey.

Who is the Goyder Institute for Water Research?

The Goyder Institute is a research alliance between the South Australian Government (through the Department for Environment and Water), CSIRO, Flinders University, the University of Adelaide, and the University of South Australia.

What is the CLLMM?

The Coorong, Lower Lakes and Murray Mouth (CLLMM) Research Centre is part of the Goyder Institute for Water Research and is based in Goolwa.

What is the CLLMM’s purpose?

The Centre’s purpose is to better understand the impacts of climate change in the region and to develop effective, evidence-based responses to these challenges.

How is their approach different?

The CLLMM has adopted a collaborative model that brings together:

  • local communities
  • scientists
  • management agencies
  • First Nations

Together, they create and share knowledge, strengthen community understanding, and empower future generations to be part of the solution.

This approach builds a foundation for long-term, locally relevant knowledge that not only benefits the CLLMM region but can also be applied across the Murray–Darling Basin.

The Science Program

  • Community-driven, with input from more than 1,000 people.
  • Currently, 29 projects are underway, involving over 150 team members, including scientists from the Goyder Institute partnership, regionally based researchers, community members and groups, First Nations, and regional organisations.
  • The outcomes of this research will guide decision-making at all levels—helping communities adapt to and mitigate future changes.
