The Friends of Granite Island (FOGI) collaborate closely with the Department of Environment and Water to restore the natural habitat of the Granite Island Recreation Park. They are enhancing the biodiversity of the Island's flora & fauna, maintaining the natural and cultural heritage of the Island whilst ensuring the Island is a pleasant and educational experience for visitors.
They have a close relationship with the National Parks & Wildlife Services Rangers in the planning and undertaking of projects on the Island.
The group is a member of Friends of Parks & Nature and maintain a shed on the Island for their tools and equipment.
They get together on the island, generally on each Wednesday morning between 8am & 10am, for a range of different activities.
Their focus for 2025 is extensive planting mainly on the western end of the Island as well as back planting areas established last year.
They are a friendly group with an ecological focus.
You are more than welcome to come along and join in, or make a donation to assist their projects.
