The Granite Island Penguin Citizen Science group is focused on protecting, monitoring and educating the public about the Granite Island Little Penguins. They collaborate closely with Flinders University and the Department of Environment & Water, assisting in long-term continuous monitoring & research.
They have a group of trained volunteers who go on to the Island each evening for 2 hours after dusk to educate and check members of the public on how to observe the penguins' safety during the critical time of their arrival back on the Island as they make their way back to their burrows/nests.
They have monthly meetings at the Grosvenor Hotel (last Tuesdays of the month) to share current trends, information and members select nights.
You are more than welcome to come along to help or assist financially with a donation.
