Friends of the Hindmarsh River Estuary focuses on enhancing biodiversity from grasses and understorey to tree canopies, establishing homes and shelter ecosystems for native fauna.
Collaborating with the knowledgeable council's Biodiversity Team, large areas of the estuary have been transformed with the removal of sways of woody weeds and the planting of 1,000's of indigenous plant species seedlings, from grasses to mighty red river gums.
Over the past several years, they have been developing their knowledge and skills in seed collection and propagation of local indigenous species.
The group gets together on the 1st Wednesday & 3rd Sunday of the month.
On Wednesday, the morning is completed with a cuppa & cake.
